The
War's Not Really Over
Frank
Delaney 4/73
Another protest song I wrote.
C
F
And
now the war is over, and a lasting peace has come,
G
C
at
least that's what they've told us, and the troops are coming home.
C
F
My
brother was a soldier, but he won't be comin' home,
G C
and
I don't think it was worth it, and I don't think I'm alone,
C
F
my
mother has a medal, but it won't replace her son,
G C
and
the war's not really over, it's only just begun.
The
people in that country, may have wanted to be free,
but
the crooked politicians, will never let it be,
and
the blame's not all one sided, and I think we all can see,
there's
no self determination, in the domino theory,
the
TV and the radio, broadcast that we've won,
but
the war's not really over, it's really just begun.
Now
the president, he's a good man, and he really serves us all,
just
keep those cards and letters, cause he doesn't hear at all,
you
know he's much too busy, he just can't get away,
unless
you're a big business, and then you get all day,
yeah,
Watergate is a scandal, see how they all run,
and
the war's not really over, it's only just begun.
Can
you live your life in blindness? Will you really never see -
that
everyman wants something, and that is to be free.
To
justify existence, is a need within us all,
we
may march to different drummers, but we all hear freedom's call.
Let's
seek a newer world, there's so much to be done,
and the war's not really over, it's really just
begun.
