In the morning she lay sleeping, as the dawn was softly breaking,

            C7                                  F

with a child gently nestled at her side,

       G                                                         F                                         C

and I stood there in the doorway, and you know I felt so happy, that I cried.

I recall when I was lonely, how I wandered through the city,

              C7                                              F

aimless journeys through a maze of neon lights,

       G                                                         F                                  C

good times were slow in coming, and mostly I remember lonely nights.

Now it's nothing too excitin', just a little house and garden,

            C7                                                               F

with some weekends camped along some gurglin' stream,

       G                                                                     F                             C

and that 9 to 5 existence is worthwhile, cause they're waitin' home for me.

Perhaps this may sound funny, cause I never would've believed it,

            C7                                             F

that this simple life would open up my eyes,

       G                                                         F                                         C

I can watch my family playing, and you know I feel so happy, I could cry.
