Stayin in a Small Town

                                                  (c) 1995 Frank Delaney

A strange experience I had in Soap Lake, Washington.

C                       G                           C

Stayin' in a small town, on a Saturday night,

C                    G                                             C

found a little country club, everything was lookin' right,

C                        F                                            C

but the band had long hair, and they played strange tones,

C                                      G    G-F#-F                     C

well, it may be modern country -         but it sure ain't Jones.

And some people was dancin', like you see on TV,

well it may be the electric glide, but it ain't for me,

and the women looked like kewpie dolls, and the guys like fops,

but over in the corner, two old gals, was doin' the bop. (Yeah, lookin' good)

instrumental

And the perky young singers, looked like kids to me,

how can ya sing about life's heartaches, which you ain't never seen,

and when they masacreed a Patsy Cline, that's when I started headin' out the line,

well you can keep your country, and I'll keep mine.

Repeat first verse
