We are
asking you to volunteer to serve on any and all committees you are interested
in. However, we promise not to call on
you unless there are specific tasks to accomplish. We need talented and able people to serve and become
involved. Almost 1/2 of our
membership serves on a committee. I URGE YOU TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO
BECOME INVOLVED.
Please
review these and return your request as soon as possible.
COMMITTEES

|
CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION COMMITTEE (meets as needed) Shall review all continuing medical education
requests and decide, on the basis of merit, whether accreditation should be given. |
|
|
|
GRIEVANCE COMMITTEE (meets every other month) Shall consider and recommend action on
complaints arising from patients and third parties. It shall have no disciplinary authority. |
|
|
|
LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE (meets as needed) Shall keep the membership informed on proposed
or pending national or state legislation, counsel representatives and
senators at national and state levels on legislative matters pertaining to
health services, and cooperate with WSMA Legislative Committee. |
|
|
|
PEER REVIEW COMMITTEE (meets as needed) Shall make an investigation concerning matters
alleged if further action is required, refer directly to the Board of
Trustees who will follow course of action outlined in Article VIII, Section 2
of the by-laws. |
|
|
|
MEDICAL INFORMATICS COMMITTEE (meets monthly) Shall study and evaluate electronic medical
information tools and resources for physicians; inform and educate physicians
regarding developments in electronic medical records and other office or
personal data systems; and coordinate physician office activities with
community medical information systems developments, and advise regarding
physician perspectives on such issues. |

BY-LAWS
COMMITTEE Shall
be responsible for insuring the by-laws are up to date, workable and
effective. |
|
|
|
EMERGENCY
MEDICAL SERVICES COORDINATING COMMITTEE Shall
promote and improve emergency medical services within the community;
coordinate emergency medical training courses for paramedical personnel; be
responsible for physician participation in community-wide disaster exercises
and ensure physicians are appropriately assigned to all hospitals by
specialty in case of disaster. |

|
MEDICAL
ASPECTS OF SPORTS COMMITTEE Shall
be responsible for coordinating courses in Sports Medicine for high school
trainers and exposing junior and senior high coaches to innovations in sports
medicine; shall be responsible for arranging team physicians for city and
county high school football teams, and become involved with promotion of
other physical activities and sports within the school system. |

|
MEDICAL
ETHICS COMMITTEE Shall
review ethics concerns as related to the individual physician's practice of
medicine. |
|
|
|
PHYSICIAN
WELLNESS COMMITTEE Shall
be responsible to offer assistance to physicians with personal problems
including alcohol, psychiatric disorders, senility, malpractice suits, and
public harassment. |
|
|
|
SISTER
CITY COMMITTEE Shall
be responsible for exploring ways to develop closer ties with the Nishinomiya
Medical Association in Nishinomiya, Japan. |
