Lead in:  Wallace, Idaho is a historic community with friendly residents, many historic buildings and a colorful history

Narrator:

Back in 1892 Theodore Jameson opened his Steak and Billiard Hall. Over the past century, it has been remodeled and restored  into a Saloon and restaurant, meeting rooms, and hotel. The saloon is straight out of the old west,  with its mirrored back bar and polished brass. On the other side is the restaurant, with its turn-of-the-century charm.

The 2nd floor, with its ornate ceilings, now houses meeting rooms, and the 3rd floor has 6 guest rooms exactly as they were in the old days. . Thousands of people have stayed at and passed through the Jameson. Jane - the Chef and maintenance person, says that  some of them have never left ....

(Actual story on radio but I am trying to get it into web listenable format)

Narrator continues with old time piano music in background:

The freeway used to run through town and be the only stoplight between Seattle and Boston, but now it bypasses Wallace.  From the 3rd floor of the Jameson Hotel, where Maggie sat gazing at the town,  you can  see  trucks and cars whizzing by on the elevated freeway.

But you can close the curtains, and return to a much different time. Lay back watching the fan slowly turn on the 10 foot ceiling and look around your room; antique furniture, straight back chairs, a dressing table with a pitcher of water.

Perhaps you'll hear footsteps in the hallway, sounds of a piano,  and a crowd downstairs in the saloon.  And if you go downstairs to join the festivities, and return to your room, something might be a little out of place.

But don't worry. It's only Maggie, letting you know she's still there.
