A review of  Anonymizer software – a software program to hide your identity on the internet, and to protect you against such perils as Phishing and pharming,  provide you with Anti Spyware protection, and give you the capability of anonymous email. I’ve reviewed this program before on Raw Bytes.

Anonymous Surfing hides your IP address so online snoops are unable to track the sites you visit and build profiles on your Internet activities. By redirecting your Web traffic through their secure servers, your online identity is protected. Their servers are armed with 128-bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology, similar to that of your bank. So you can rest easy knowing that Anonymizer has you and your family covered.

Additionally, Anonymous Surfing also protects you from inadvertently visiting Web sites that are known to be phishing, pharming, or spyware sites. If you unknowingly visit one of these sites, a warning page will display to notify you of the hidden dangers that are lurking ahead.

Phishing threats lure unsuspecting email recipients into clicking a link in an email that looks like it’s from their bank to update their account information. However, these clever scams are simply trying to steal your personal information, credit card information, and more. Anonymous Surfing protects against phishing scams with a real-time anti-phishing feed that integrates into your Web browser to block you from clicking through to these fraudulent sites. Updated every fifteen minutes, this added protection automatically displays a warning page to notify you that you are being led to a known phishing site.

Pharming attacks are similar to phishing in nature but they don’t rely on you clicking on their fraudulent email. Pharming attacks are even more dangerous because they are able to redirect you to a fraudulent Web site even if you type the URL into your Internet browser. Anonymous Surfing protects against pharming threats by routing all of your Internet traffic through their hardened, secure servers. In addition, when you have Anonymous Surfing activated, your Host file is never accessed so even if it’s corrupted, you will still arrive at your intended destination safely.

One new feature in this version of Anonymizer is an anti-spyware module, which you can have running in real time, or you can select to run it on demand. It’s estimated that most computers have spyware on them, and you need to protect yourself against this hazard.

Another new feature is a Digital Shredder, which you can run on demand to remove all traces of websites you’ve visited, including temporary internet files, and cookies. A computer expert could get on your computer and find out a lot of information about your internet habits, without this protection.

And one of the best new features is Anonymous Email, where you can create a NYM – their verbage – and protect and maintain an anonymous email identity.

Anyone using the internet today needs to be aware of these issues, and protect yourself accordingly.
