A new free toolbar application lets
you save those wonderful media clips to your computer.
The
internet is loaded with videos and sound clips you can look at and hear , but now a new free toolbar application lets you save
those wonderful media clips to your computer.
Over the
years I’ve done several shows on Applian
Technologies, a software company that specializes in programs that you can
purchase to capture and convert media files you found on the internet – down to
your own computer. Last April 2008 I had done a show The Web is a big candy store,
and what you see is what you get, or you can get ... Part 2 featuring
some of their products at the time, and they were selling several
products to let you capture, convert and save media files.
But today
the company is offering users a free
application to do all this in your browser, with its new Ask and Record
toolbar, and this program is available to everyone on their website
So now you
don’t have to be a computer technical guru to capture and save video or audio
files you come across during your surfing.
The Ask and
Record Toolbar program can be downloaded and installed in less than a couple
minutes, and installs itself in your default browser, or in my case Firefox.
It’s there
all the time, ready to go to work for you, but you have the option of turning
the toolbar itself on

or off, depending on
how you’re using it.

To record
video, you go to whatever site the video is at – like Youtube, and play the
video. The Ask and Record toolbar automatically records all video you watch,
and to save it after it’s played you click Save Video on the toolbar, and
highlight the video you want to save.

Then you can convert it to a variety of
formats by clicking on the convert button and choosing from a wide variety of
formats:

I tend to
save video in the new .wmv Windows Movie Video format. And the Ask and Record
toolbar automatically saves the video in this format into a folder on your
computer. That’s all there is to it !!! Audio files
work the same way - play them and save them and you’ve got them
!!
So now any
time you come across a site with video or audio files, you can capture and save
them to your computer – using the FREE Ask and Record toolbar.
And as if
that isn’t enough, the program also has a built in search function that will
search for files related to whatever you type in.
As a test,
I typed in Mississippi John Hurt, my favorite country blues artist, and it
found umpteen pages of videos, mp3’s and informative websites about him.

So if
you’re a serious web surfer, the free Ask and Record toolbar will be an
important part of your online adventure.
