Getting what you see on the Internet ...

A review of Applian Technologies streaming video tools ..

In the new world of Web 2.0 – the new generation of the WWW,  web pages are no longer static.  This means that instead of websites being composed of just text and pictures, you can now have live video on your website, talking about you, your products, giving instruction etc.

Which poses the question – “If a picture is worth a thousand words, what’s a live video worth ? “

Well I’m not sure exactly what a live video is worth, but it sure seems to draw a lot of traffic. Take for example the world’s biggest live video website – Youtube – which grew exponentially in just a few years, and was recently bought by Google.

Youtube features videos of virtually everything under the sun, and many of them are very good. Anyone can create a Youtube site and upload their videos for the entire world to see. So you can go to Youtube, type in some keyword of something you’d like to see in a video, and then watch videos based on your selections.  You can bookmark these videos and return anytime to watch them, and send the links to your friends.

But what’s even better than finding and watching these videos, is being able to download and save these videos, which you can’t do on youtube, nor on many other live video websites, as they try to prevent you from downloading these videos, and this is where Applian Technologies has a wonderful suite of software tools to allow you to do this.

One tool is their Replay Media Catcher ,  which enables you to go to a site like Youtube, start playing a video, and then their program captures the video in raw format.

After it downloads, you can rename the filename to anything you want and give it the extension of .flv , and then click on it using Windows explorer, and the video will play using another Applian Technology program named FLV Player, in a choice of sizes.  So you have the capability of downloading and capturing virtually any video you see on the internet today,  and playing it on your computer.

“But wait – that’s not all” – as they say in those tv infomercials – it does more- much more.

Another Applian Technology tool is Replay Converter, which lets you both convert the videos you download into other popular formats, including Ipod, MP3, .avi and .mpeg and others, and to actually resize and enhance the videos.

“But wait – there’s even more ... ”  In the event you’d like to edit or split these videos, perhaps to eliminate a leadin or somethings, they also provide a utility named Replay Media Splitter for this exact purpose.

You can buy these products either ala carte, or as part of a software tools suite named the Audio Video Streaming Capture Suite.

These are some of  the best and most complete video download, capture, and edit tools  available today, and you can buy the entire suite for $ 99.95.

The web today has become a candystore, and now you can help yourself to the candy.
